Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 03 March 2026  ·  Version 1.0

1. About This Service

These Terms & Conditions ('Terms') govern your use of the energy tariff comparison service ('Service') provided by [YOUR COMPANY NAME] ('we', 'us', 'our') at https://heatpumptariffs.uk (the 'Site'). By registering for or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service. Energy supply contracts are legally binding agreements, and by using this Site you confirm that you are of legal age to enter into such contracts. We reserve the right to terminate accounts we believe belong to minors.

3. Nature of the Service

Our Service allows you to upload or connect your smart meter reading data and compare estimated costs across different UK energy tariffs and suppliers. Please be aware of the following important limitations:

  • Information only: The Service provides estimated cost comparisons for informational purposes only. It does not constitute financial, energy, or commercial advice.
  • Estimates, not guarantees: Comparison results are estimates based on the tariff rates and meter reading data available at the time of comparison. Actual costs will vary depending on your actual consumption, tariff changes, standing charges, and other factors.
  • No switching service: We do not switch your energy supplier on your behalf. Any decision to switch supplier is entirely your own. We may provide referral links to supplier websites as a convenience.
  • Tariff accuracy: We take reasonable steps to keep tariff data accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that rates shown reflect the exact current rates offered by suppliers at all times. Always verify tariff rates directly with the supplier before making any decisions.

4. Your Account

4.1 Registration: To use the full features of the Service, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information. You must keep your account details up to date.

4.2 Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

4.3 One account per person: You may only hold one account. Creating multiple accounts is not permitted.

4.4 Inactivity: If you do not log in for 180 consecutive days, your account and all associated data will be automatically deleted. We will send warning emails before this occurs. See our Privacy Policy for details.

4.5 Termination: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms.

5. Your Data and Smart Meter Readings

5.1 Uploading data: You are responsible for ensuring that any meter reading data you upload to the Service belongs to you and relates to a property for which you are the bill payer or have authorised access.

5.2 Bright app connection: If you choose to connect your Bright app account, you grant us permission to retrieve your smart meter readings via the Bright API solely for the purpose of providing the comparison service. You may revoke this permission at any time through your account settings.

5.3 Data accuracy: We are not responsible for errors in comparison results arising from inaccurate or incomplete meter reading data that you have provided.

6. Referral Links and Third-Party Suppliers

The Site may contain referral links to energy supplier websites. When you follow such a link, we may receive a referral fee from the supplier. This does not affect the price you pay for any energy product. Our comparison results are generated objectively based on tariff rate data and are not influenced by commercial arrangements with suppliers.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of third-party supplier websites, nor for any products or services they offer.

7. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Service to:

  • Upload meter reading data that does not belong to you.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site or its underlying systems.
  • Transmit any malicious code, spam, or disruptive content.
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Site without our written permission.
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable UK law or regulation.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these requirements without notice.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this Site, including but not limited to text, software, design, and graphics, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Site without our prior written consent.

You retain ownership of your meter reading data. By uploading it to the Service, you grant us a limited licence to process and store it solely for the purpose of providing the comparison service to you.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that comparison results will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss or damage arising out of your use of the Service, including but not limited to: financial loss arising from reliance on comparison results; loss of data; or loss of business opportunity.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the 'Last updated' date above. Continued use of the Service after notification constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
